AltaShot is an iOS camera app that overlays altitude, place name, and weather information on your photos. This policy explains what data the app handles and why. The short version: your photos never leave your device, we run no accounts or servers of our own, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
AltaShot uses your camera to capture photos. Photos are processed entirely on your device and saved directly to your photo library. The app has add-only access to your photo library: it cannot read, browse, or upload your existing photos. We never receive, store, or transmit your photos.
If you grant location access, AltaShot uses your location while the app is in use for two purposes:
To display a place name, your coordinates are reverse-geocoded using Apple Maps services on your device, subject to Apple's privacy policy. To display the local temperature, your approximate coordinates are sent to the WeatherAPI.com weather service (weatherapi.com). No identifier, name, or account information is sent with the request, and we do not store your location. Location data is embedded in a photo only as visible overlay text that you choose to include.
With your permission, AltaShot reads barometric and motion data from your device to calculate altitude. This data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted.
AltaShot uses Google Firebase for three limited purposes.
Crash reports. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports — including device model, OS version, and a crash-instance identifier — to help us fix bugs.
Usage analytics. Firebase Analytics collects a small set of anonymous product-usage events so we can understand which features are used and improve the app: that onboarding was completed, that a photo was captured, that an export completed, that the paywall was shown, and that a HUD element was turned on or off. These events carry no personal information, no photo content, and no location coordinates. They are associated only with an app-generated installation identifier — not with your name or identity — and are used solely to improve AltaShot, never for advertising or cross-app tracking.
App configuration. Firebase Remote Config delivers app configuration values (such as the free export allowance).

AltaShot Pro subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Your subscription status is verified on your device through Apple's StoreKit framework. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your device Settings under your Apple Account.
App preferences (units, overlay style, remaining free exports) are stored locally on your device and are removed when you delete the app.
AltaShot contains no advertising and no advertising trackers, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The limited usage analytics described above are used only to improve AltaShot, never for advertising or marketing profiling. We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for their own purposes. We do not require or offer user accounts.
AltaShot is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Because we hold no personal data about you on any server of ours, there is generally nothing for us to delete or export. Crash data held by Firebase is subject to Google's retention policies. If you have a privacy question or request, contact us and we will help.
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
